Our Firm

Asgaard Capital is a specialty consulting and financial advisory firm, owned and run by Charlie Reardon, that specializes in helping businesses and their owners transition to their next stage. Drawing on decades of experience as an investment banker, lawyer and business owner himself, Charlie helps management and owners to better position their businesses to raise debt and equity capital, find new partners and sell or wind down their businesses. He is particularly effective at helping companies that are experiencing high growth, structural changes in their industries, or limited capital constraints, including those that might be experiencing financial distress.

Charlie also has extensive experience dealing with family businesses. Through his experience both as an owner and consultant to family-owned and run businesses, he helps families navigate performance, compensation and succession issues common to such businesses in order to achieve successful outcomes that take into account perspectives that are frequently unique to each family.

Why Asgaard

Award-Winning Performance

Charlie has built his career on driving better results for his clients in distressed situations. He knows from decades of experience what works and what doesn’t. He can make concrete suggestions on how to improve operations, pick and incentivize management and advisors, run competitive financing or sale processes, and navigate the bankruptcy process when necessary, all with a single goal in mind – to drive value for investors and other stakeholders.

Diverse, World-Class Experience

Leading M&A and restructuring engagements with nationally recognized firms for over 17 years, including 8 years as head of Houlihan Lokey Financial Restructuring Group’s Distressed M&A practice in the mid-Atlantic.

Serving on the boards of private and public companies. Charlie has served on or advised the boards of numerous companies in a wide variety of industries, including retail, energy, basic and hi-tech manufacturing, broadband/media/telecom, government services, defense, and homebuilding. Charlie’s most recent public board experience was with WCI Communities, Inc. (WCIC: NYSE). He joined the Board upon designation by one of WCI’s main stockholders, which had acquired its stock in WCI’s Chapter 11 Reorganization. Charlie served on both the audit and corporate governance committees until WCI was acquired by Lennar (LEN:NYSE) in February 2017 at a 37% premium above the then trading price of equity. Previously, Charlie served on the Board of publicly held Sunshine Mining & Refining Company (SSMR:US) as well as on a number of other private company boards. More recently, Charlie had served on special situation boards in the oil and gas, retail, and solar power industries.

Simply Better Results

Charlie has consistently completed transactions which yielded far better results than initially projected, outperforming original enterprise value transaction expectations by over 300% in some cases; five of his cases even generated meaningful returns to equity despite severe distress at the outset. Recognition for his transactions includes Retail Products & Services Turnaround of the Year (Turnaround Atlas Awards), Professional Services Deal of the Year (M&A Advisor) and Middle Market Financing of the Year (M&A Advisor).

The AIM Process

Based upon the available time and resource horizon, Asgaard Capital applies the AIM Process (Assess, Improve, Monetize) to increase earnings and decrease operational and financial risk leading ultimately to increased transaction multiples and greatly enhanced transaction proceeds for owners and other constituencies.
